HomeAid Utah takes immense pride in its association with The INN Between, located in the heart of Salt Lake City, Utah. The mission that drives The INN Between is a truly noble one: to put an end to the heart-wrenching tragedy of vulnerable individuals succumbing on the unforgiving streets of our community. They achieve this by providing critical medical respite and compassionate end-of-life care to those who find themselves grappling with homelessness.
The INN Between stands as a sanctuary, offering a warm and supportive home environment for adults experiencing homelessness. Within its walls, they gain access to professional hospice care from state-licensed hospice agencies. This haven also serves as a place for individuals to receive life-saving medical treatments, stabilize before undergoing surgery, or convalesce after enduring serious illness, injury, or surgical procedures. In its eighth year of dedicated service, The INN Between has enabled 120 individuals to experience the profound dignity of a housed, not homeless, death.
Before The INN Between came into being, no adequate solution existed for the critical mission they undertake. The grim reality was that an average of 50 individuals faced untimely deaths on the unforgiving streets of the Salt Lake area each year. Annetta, one of the fortunate ones, found her way to The INN Between. Initially anticipating a brief stay, Annetta gradually became an integral part of The INN Between's close-knit family. The staff eagerly awaited the sight of Annetta's radiant smile every day. She had a penchant for wearing pink, painting her nails, enjoying crossword puzzles, word searches, and coloring. Annetta even assumed the role of the drummer in The INN Between's 'Garage Band'! Her room was a testament to her unwavering love for her family, adorned with pictures drawn by her beloved grandchildren. Annetta was cherished by our dedicated volunteers and fellow residents. She peacefully passed away at The INN Between at the age of 59, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that continues to inspire all those who knew her.
HomeAid Utah has successfully executed four transformative projects at The INN Between within our five-year history. The facility where The INN Between resides was originally an aging, specialized nursing building. During this period, we embarked on a series of renovation initiatives that included the transformation of six client bathrooms, the establishment of a dedicated client laundry facility, and refreshing interior spaces with a fresh coat of paint.
Our team takes immense pride in our achievements, and we are pleased to share that we leveraged $38,667.00 in cash contributions to generate an astounding overall value of nearly $100,000.00. This substantial contribution represents a testament to our dedication and commitment to improving the lives of those in need within our community.
